Gotcha Day!
What an absolutely incredible experience…we now have Caroline! We just got up to our room and she is sleeping peacefully in her crib. The “Gotcha” process was so surreal. All 17 families (46 people total) gathered in the hotel banquet room and the babies were brought in one at a time. When they called our last name, we simply walked over and they handed Caroline to us and took an official picture. We filled out a form which will be notarized tomorrow when our adoption becomes official.
Caroline is so tiny…probably the smallest baby of the bunch. The orphanage caretaker said she is quiet and sweet. While other babies were screaming their heads off, Caroline just sat with Amy and stared at everything going on. We were very surprised when the caretakers gave each family a photo album that shows life at the orphanage.
Our day has been really exhausting. We had to take a 2 hour bus ride across the border to get to Shenzhen (this included several stops for customs and immigration). Our flight from Shenzhen was delayed several hours due to bad weather (we changed gates three times), and so we arrived in Nanchang only 1 ½ hours before the babies were brought in. We didn’t have time to get settled in our room because CCAI needed to give their orientation and distribute baby formula and other essentials. Needless to say, everyone was nervous and tired, but then experienced overwhelming emotion as the babies were brought in. We will write more tomorrow as we need to get a little sleep!

She does look so tiny...but all the more that you get to see her grow. We are emotional reading your account and just so overwhelmed with God's goodness and grace as He has finally united you with your daughter.

I am so amazed that you guys finally have her and I cannot imagine how you all must feel now. Anne(my sis...I sent her the link before you left) was reading it to me over the phone while I was in the car and I am just crying my eyes out at the thought that she is finally with you! Mike said how awesome it was to think about how just a couple years ago Scott was sitting in his car listening to Focus on the Family and the Lord moved in His heart. God is faithful. Get some sleep and we love you guys!

If it's flooding in China...it's because I've been crying (tears of joy) all day. When Cameron, Emma and I were praying for you and Caroline this morning, I just couldn't get out the words! God is so good and Caroline finally has a mommy and daddy! To see you both finally holding her...my heart is about to explode! I can't imagine what you both are feeling!!
Thank you so much for including all of us in this entire process...it has blessed us so tremendously to see how God has worked in your lives and in the life of Caroline. Please give Caroline hugs and kisses from her extended family, and tell her we love her so much and can't wait to meet her!! We will continue to keep you all in our prayers. Sleep well.

Well, I am not as computer savy as I thought...after 30 minutes of crying, typing, crying, editing, I did something wrong and my comment did not post!! So here is the 2nd version...we are SO excited and she is just precious. I can't imagine what it is like to finally hold her after the long wait. I know how exciting it was to hold our children after waiting just 9 months! The Lord is good...we had been praying for sweet Caroline's transition--that there would not be much crying and for her to just feel a supernatural peace once she was in your arms. I don't know what your night has been like, but it looks like we should have been praying that the two of you wouldn't cry so much and that you would sleep through the night...Seriously, I am so thankful to God that He saw fit to answer so many prayers with a "yes" and that you were really able to enjoy your first moments with her and not have to worry about calming a crying child! Anyway, it seems that we are attached to our computer these days and can't wait to hear your next update. James hopes you get back soon and are safe. We love you guys.

We can hardly wait to see you both again, hold Caroline for the first time and watch her grow into the person God wants her to become. We know she will be blessed by being your daughter and will be loved so much by her Nana and Papa Dixon in our family. We would call you know but you are probably trying to sleep so we will call tomorrow morning. Love N&P Dixon

We really appreciate everyone's encouraging posts. Thanks for all your love and support. A highlight of each day is hearing from all of you back home. It helps us feel like we're not so far way even though we're on the other side of the world.
Love,
Scott & Amy
